IMPORTANT: Before proceeding with the upgrade, disconnect all external hardware devices, including PC Cards etc
Note: Before proceeding, ensure that the VAIO computer is operated using the supplied AC adapter.
Note: Save all data/files and close all running programs
Please note that when installing either of the Windows XP versions, users may no longer have access to some preinstalled software or will not be able to use some of preinstalled functions.
Below are the functions that are confirmed to be unusable once users downgrade to Windows XP on VGN-BZ1 Series:
1. Fn+F9/Fn+F10 hotkey can not be used.
Applicable Models:Download the VGN-BZ1-drivers.zip (236MB) to a temporary or download directory (Please note this directory for reference. Make sure the size of the downloaded file is the same as indicated. If the size is different, please download the file again.) Then launch and install the file as below.
Chipset Software Installation Utility
1. Execute \drivers\Chipset.EXE.
2. Follow the installation wizard that appears.
3. At the License Agreement dialog, read the agreement. Click I Agree to continue with the installation.
NOTE: Several setup boxes may briefly appear during the installation. Follow the installation wizard that appears.
4. When the installation finishes, please restart the computer if needed.
Intel Graphics Driver
1. Execute \drivers\Graphics-Intel.EXE.
2. Follow the installation wizard that appears.
3. At the License Agreement dialog, read the agreement. Click I Agree to continue with the installation.
NOTE: Several setup boxes may briefly appear during the installation. Follow the installation wizard that appears.
4. When the installation finishes, please restart the computer if needed.
Audio driver
1. Execute \drivers\Audio.EXE.
2. Follow the installation wizard that appears.
3. At the License Agreement dialog, read the agreement. Click I Agree to continue with the installation.
NOTE: Several setup boxes may briefly appear during the installation. Follow the installation wizard that appears.
4. When the installation finishes, please restart the computer if needed.
Modem driver
1. Execute \drivers\Modem.EXE.
2. Follow the installation wizard that appears.
3. At the License Agreement dialog, read the agreement. Click I Agree to continue with the installation.

4. When the installation finishes, please restart the computer if needed.
Alps Pointing device for VAIO
1. Execute \drivers\Pointing.EXE.
2. Follow the installation wizard that appears.
3. At the License Agreement dialog, read the agreement. Click I Agree to continue with the installation.

4. When the installation finishes, please restart the computer if needed.
Memory Stick driver
1. Execute \drivers\MS-Driver.EXE.
2. Follow the installation wizard that appears.

Memory Stick Hotfix

SD Driver

1. Download Microsoft MSXML 6.0 and Windows Installer 3.14 basic following URL:

2. Install these 2 hotfix on the unit.
3. Execute \drivers\Wireless-Intel.EXE.
4. Follow the installation wizard that appears.

6. When the installation finishes, please restart the computer if needed.
Bluetooth Driver
1. Please put the WIRELESS switch to 鈥淥N锟斤拷?before install.
2. Execute \drivers\Bluetooth.EXE.
3. Follow the installation wizard that appears.
4. At the License Agreement dialog, read the agreement. Click I Agree to continue with the installation.

Camera Driver:
1. Execute \drivers\camera.EXE.
2. Follow the installation wizard that appears.

Download the VGN-BZ1-applications.zip (94.2 MB) to a temporary or download directory (Please note this directory for reference. Make sure the size of the downloaded file is the same as indicated. If the size is different, please download the file again.) Then launch and install the file as below.
Sony Shared Library
1. Execute \applications\Sony_Shared_Library.EXE.
2. Follow the installation wizard that appears.
3. At the License Agreement dialog, read the agreement. Click I Agree to continue with the installation.
NOTE: Several setup boxes may briefly appear during the installation. Follow the installation wizard that appears.
4. When the installation finishes, please restart the computer if needed.
Sony Utilities DLL
1. Execute \applications\Sony_Utilities_DLL.EXE.
2. Follow the installation wizard that appears.
